Hondarribia and Irun

Irugurutzeta is one of the most important industrial sites in the Irun’s history.

This mining concession reached peak development in the mid-19th century, becoming one of the most important of its kind on the Cantabrian coast thanks to its then ground-breaking calcination kilns.

Today, Irugurutzeta has been transformed into a cultural, heritage and tourism project that offers visitors an insight into its mining history, the workings of the old mines and kilns, and the daily lives of those who worked at Irugurutzeta.

A unique cultural tourism experience that explores the city’s surroundings and history.
