The Way of St. James next to the coast
Zarautz
The Way of St. James crosses Zarautz on one of the path’s most representative sections. Passing through txakoli vineyards, along cliffs and beside the sea, this route crystallises nature, heritage and local tradition in every step.
After leaving Donostia/San Sebastián, Getaria and Zumaia behind, Zarautz is a mandatory stopping point where you can enjoy the Cantabrian Sea and its seaside atmosphere from is seafront promenade before continuing westwards. An ideal stretch for a leisurely walk, to enjoy the local cuisine and relaxed atmosphere, to commune with the landscape and to discover the Basque coast in the raw.
* Zarautz does not have a specific pilgrims’ hostel.
